Servo Voltage Stabilizer: A Brief Intro

A servo voltage stabilizer operates using a servo motor that controls the whole stabilization system so that it can supply optimum voltage using a Boost or Buck transformer booster for capturing fluctuations in voltage from input and also regulates current to the proper output.

An AC synchronous motor can be used for adjusting voltage in either clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. It can also manage the output voltage with a couple of components like dimmer, control card, transistors, mocs, comparator, etc.


Primary components of a servo voltage stabilizer & their functionalities:

• Dimmer a variable transformer: Generally round shaped dimmers use CRGO toroidal silicon core and to achieve the desired capacity, copper wire is also used with a particular turn ratio. The primary use of dimmer is for increasing or decreasing the required voltage that is offered to the buck boost transformer. Only half of the voltage output can be increased or decreased using dimmer.

• Buck boost transformer a series transformer: Different from dimmer, buck boost transformers are rectangular-shaped. EI CRGO core fits bobbin. After the structure of the transformer is built, to give it an extra layer of protection, it needs to get dipped in a varnish tank. Such types of insulating varnish also known as transformer varnish, and these can also be put on every winding which are used in buck boost transformers for encapsulating them prior to the servo stabilizer gets prepared for regress testing.

• Servomotor – synchronizer motors: It is the crucial part of a servo voltage stabilizer. The input voltage decides whether the servomotor should rotate in the clockwise direction.

• Carbon Brush: This part remains moving in a servo stabilizer. Carbon brush remains fitted within the shaft for making contact with dimmer. With a frequent variation in voltage, user needs to replace carbon brushes in a frequent manner. This is why users need to use best quality brushes.

• Relay or contactor: If the output of any servo stabilizer exceeds the approved limit, the contactor works to cut it down.

• MCCB, MCB: MCCB offers protection from overload. MCB offers protection from short circuit conditions and it uses a switch to power on or off the servo stabilizer.

• Electronic Circuit: The electronic circuits are used to carry signals to several parts of the servo voltage stabilizer and functions according to the signals.

There are many parts of a servo stabilizer such as connectors, ampere meter, voltmeter, etc.
